Garden Shed Floral Workshops 2024

We've got together with Strathtyrum Flowers to bring you a series of floral workshops, which reflects the Scottish growing season, and month-by-month offering from the Walled Garden here on the estate.

The flowers are sustainably grown, following organic principles, and carefully harvested by hand to ensure they are fresh as possible.

Each workshop will focus on learning about, and arranging with, the best blooms, sprigs and stems of the season, beginning in May with late spring tulips and ranunculus, and ending in December with our Christmas Wreaths.

Saturday 18th May, 10.30am - 12.30pm - Late Spring Arrangement:
Join us to make your own arrangement with a selection of late spring blooms. These will include colourful tulips and ranunculus as well as a variety of spring foliage and blossom.

Saturday 15th June, 10.30am - 12.30pm - All about Peonies:
A morning of peony appreciation where you will create your own beautiful peony bouquet. This will include top tips on how best to grow these prized blooms in your own garden.

Saturday 20th July, 10.30am - 12.30pm - The Summer Garden:
Join us for a morning of arranging with some of the best summer stems from our cutting garden. These will feature roses and sweet peas as well as some florist's favourite annual stems such as Ammi, Nigella and Cerinthe.

Saturday 24th August, 10.30am - 12.30pm - The Late Summer Garden:
In this workshop, we will be arranging an array of beautiful late summer stems and some of the cutting garden's favourites such as Zinnia, Cosmos, and China Asters.

Saturday 21st September, 10.30am - 12.30pm - All about Dahlias:
We celebrate the delightful dahlia! Learn how to create your own bouquet with these unique and beautiful blooms. We will also provide some top tips on how they grow.

Saturday 19th October, 10.30am - 12.30pm - All about Dry Flowers:
Join us in flower arranging using the best of the summer grown dried stems. Learn about the drying process and create your own everlasting bouquet, which will include flowers, grasses and seed pods.

Saturday 30th November, Saturday 7th December, and Saturday 14th December, 10.30am - 12.30pm - Christmas Wreath:
Join us with a friend or two for a festive morning of wreath making, using seasonal sprigs, and greenery on a hand-woven willow base - All sustainably foraged here on the estate.

Tickets include all materials and refreshments.

Workshops will be held in the Flower Barn by the Garden Shed. Appropriate clothing is advised.
